How to join the WBKA

WBKA is a support organisation for the beekeepers in Wales

If you are a Beekeeper and a member of one of the nineteen member associations which form the Welsh Beekeepers Association. Then you will already be a member of the WBKA and be entitled to receive either a printed or an electronic copy of the Welsh Beekeeper.

WBKA offers its members Public Liability Insurance cover, also known as 3rd Party Liability. A copy of the public liability insurance is accessible from the members help pages to which all members have free access too. (Please check with your Association Secretaries for the current password.)

If you are a Beekeeper and not a member of one of the regional member associations then why not become an individual member of the WBKA, and receive all of the above benefits. In addition, independant membership   includes Bee Disease Insurance which covers 3 Bee Colonies only. Additional insurance cover can be puchased for extra colonies if needed. Please note that BDI will not pay out if a member has more colonies than they are insured for. Individual applications forms can be downloaded in a pdf format.

There is a dedicated team of trustees and officers of the wbka working tirelessly for its membership. The WBKA we provide a number of services to beekeeping in Wales but in addition we represent beekeeping in Wales in a number of fora. We are members of CONBA – the Council of National Beekeeping Associations where we seek to provide a unified approach from the home countries and Ireland to Government and currently to Europe. We are represented at the Bee Health Advisory Forum (BHAF), an UK Government forum where all interested parties from all UK countries meet with the NBU and others to discuss current issues affecting bee health including updates on pest issues such as Asian Hornet.
